Geosynthetics & Civil InfrastructureASTM D4439High-Tenacity Woven PP/PET

Auroguard Geotextile Dewatering Tubes (Geotubes) are large-diameter cylindrical fabric forms manufactured from high-tenacity woven polypropylene or polyester fabric. Slurry — dredged sediment, industrial sludge, wastewater solids — is pumped into the tube through filling ports. Free water escapes through the permeable fabric while solids are retained and consolidated inside, achieving significant volume reduction. Applications include dredged material management in ports and waterways, municipal and industrial sludge dewatering, shoreline protection groynes, land reclamation embankments, and bridge pier scour protection in coastal areas. Auroguard supplies geotubes with custom-specified fabric, filling ports, and circumference to project requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a geotextile tube used for?
Geotextile tubes are used for dredged material dewatering and containment, wastewater sludge dewatering, shoreline protection, land reclamation, and coastal groyne construction. Slurry is pumped in; water escapes through the fabric; solids are retained and consolidated.
What fabric is used in geotextile dewatering tubes?
High-tenacity woven polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET) fabric with small apparent opening size (O90 0.075–0.425mm) and sufficient permeability is used. The fabric retains fine sediment while allowing free water drainage. Tensile strength of 50–200 kN/m is typical.
What sizes of geotextile tubes are available?
Auroguard supplies geotextile tubes with circumferences of 3–16m (diameters approximately 1–5m) and lengths of 10–50m. Smaller tubes (1–2m dia) suit dewatering; larger tubes (3–5m dia) suit shoreline protection and reclamation.
