Geosynthetics & Civil InfrastructureGRI-GM13ASTM D7176

Auroguard HDPE Geomembrane Liners are impermeable barrier sheets manufactured from virgin high-density polyethylene resin with carbon black UV stabilisers. Available in smooth (0.5–3.0mm) and textured (double-sided) grades for applications requiring increased interface friction. Seams are extrusion-welded or hot-wedge welded on-site and spark-tested for integrity. Applications include water reservoir and fish pond lining, irrigation canal lining, municipal solid waste landfill liner systems, industrial effluent pond containment, mining heap leach pads, and highway cut-slope drainage blankets. Auroguard supplies and coordinates installation supervision for large-area projects in eastern India.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thickness HDPE geomembrane is used for pond lining?
For fish ponds and agricultural reservoirs, 0.5–1.0mm smooth HDPE is commonly used. For irrigation canals and water treatment ponds, 1.0–1.5mm is specified. For MSW landfill liner systems, 1.5–2.0mm textured HDPE is required per CPCB guidelines.
What is the difference between smooth and textured HDPE geomembrane?
Smooth HDPE has low interface friction and is used for liquid containment. Textured (double-sided) HDPE has increased interface friction angle (25–30°) which prevents sliding on steep slopes and is preferred for landfill liner systems and canal embankments.
What standards apply to HDPE geomembrane in India?
HDPE geomembranes in India are tested against GRI-GM13 and ASTM D7176, D6693, D5885. CPCB and MoEFCC reference these standards for landfill and hazardous waste containment applications.
