Geosynthetics & Civil InfrastructureASTM D4716Composite Drainage

Auroguard HDPE Drain Cells are composite drainage boards consisting of a dimpled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) core bonded to a geotextile filter fabric on one or both faces. The dimpled core creates continuous drainage channels while the geotextile filter prevents fine soil particles from clogging the drainage plane. Applications include basement wall drainage and waterproofing membrane protection, green roof drainage layers, plaza and podium deck drainage, sports field sub-drainage, retaining wall back-drainage, and road edge drainage systems. Supplied in roll or panel form; panels interlock for continuous coverage without gaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are drain cells used for in construction?
HDPE drain cells are used to manage sub-surface water drainage in basements, retaining walls, green roofs, plaza decks, and sports turf drainage systems. The dimpled HDPE core creates drainage channels while the bonded geotextile filter prevents clogging.
What is the flow rate of HDPE drainage boards?
HDPE drain cells achieve flow rates of 4–12 litres per second per metre width at standard hydraulic gradients (ASTM D4716), depending on core height and dimple geometry. Auroguard supplies multiple grades for different drainage demand applications.
Can drain cells be used for basement waterproofing protection?
Yes. HDPE drain cells are widely used as a protection and drainage layer on basement waterproofing membranes. The dimpled core protects the membrane from construction damage while channelling water to drainage outlets, reducing hydrostatic pressure on the structure.
